5 Tips to banish dry skin this winter.

As the seasons change, so should your skin routine. You may find that moisturisers that work perfectly fine in the summer and spring months, do not serve their purpose as well during the harsh winter months. This article will provide you with all you need to keep your skin hydrated this winter.

1. Add more moisture to your skin.

This is a no-brainer.

In order to survive the severe elements, your skin needs more moisture. Ditch the water-based products and go for a product which is rich in essential oils to lock in moisture and keep skin hydrated. One of the best oil-based products for winter include moisturising body cream or moisturising baby lotion for you babies and kids, which is rich and thick, perfect for keeping the skin supple.

2. Protect your skin against the winter sun.

Sunscreen is not just for when you are lazing by the pool on a sunny December day, as the winter sun has been found to be just as harsh on the skin. Active Sunscreen 35, Lip Balm, Sun Protector Balm and Anti Ageing Face Balm are rich and thick, which is great for nourishing the skin The SPF 35 also ensures that your skin is protected from harsh UV rays. The Anti Ageing Face Balm contains carrot seed oil which helps with improving antioxidant, cures Infections, detoxifies the body and stimulates growth. Carrot seed oil is also a good skin toning and tightening agent. It minimizes large pores and tightens up sagging skin.

3. Drink more water and you will see the difference.

It is essential to hydrate from the inside, to see the results on the outside. If your skin is looking dull and dry, you may just need a glass of water. It can be especially tough to drink water on those extremely cold days. I suggest spicing up your H2O by adding lemon and honey to a cup of hot water, for a warm winter treat. Water can also help to prevent headaches. Most of the times when you get a headache, it’s your bodies way of telling you that it’s dehydrated and it needs water. When one starts to get the tightening sensation in the head, it’s so, so easy to reach for a bottle of pain medication. Many over the counter drugs have side effects that could be even worse than the headache itself! Therefore it is better to consider other more natural alternatives instead of looking for a quick fix. We suggest drinking propolis tincture 2 to 3 time a day and remember to drink enough water even during the winter.

4. Love your hands and feet Ultra Bee.

The skin on your hands and feet is generally thinner, with fewer oil glands, which makes them especially susceptible to becoming dry and cracked. Our Nourishing Hand Cream is excellent for sealing in moisture on the delicate skin on your hands. Our cracked heel balm can be used daily after a bath to keep dry cracked heels at bay. While your hands are exposed to the cold and your feet to the warmth of your shoes, both conditions are not suitable for the skin during the winter. The cold tends to dehydrate your skin leaving it chapped and sometimes cracked. Having your feet enclosed in shoes for 8 to 10 hours, without any oxygen, can lead to cracked heals and chapped skin.

5. Avoid hot water, Don’t torture your skin.

It may be tempting to crank the hot water on full blast when taking a bath or shower, but this is especially damaging for your delicate skin. Excessive hot water strips the skin of its natural moisture. Lukewarm temperatures with a few drops of essential oil will help to retain moisture and de-stress your body. Remember that your skin is the largest organ that you have, and if you use water which is too hot, it can, and will damage your skin and leaving you feeling sick. Using our Natural Body Wash or our Propolis & Tea Tree Antiseptic Hand & Body Wash will help your skin look and feel great.
